DAY 1 AIRPORT >COLOMBO
Travel Duration 1.5 hour.

DAY 2 COLOMBO>HABARANA

After breakfast at the hotel Transfer to Habarana. Before arriving at your overnight destination Habarana, take a stop at Dambulla and visit the Dambulla Cave Rock Temple which lies atop a massive hill on the edge of the town. It is one of the eight UNESCO world heritage sites in the country.
Dambulla Cave Temple
Enter the historic caves of the Golden Temple of Dambulla, dating back to the 1st century BC. View the ancient murals depicting the life story of Lord Gautama Buddha. Look at the hundreds of figurines of Buddha and other deities scattered throughout the five main caves. Visit the Cave of the Divine King, Cave of the Great King and the Great New Monastery. See the giant golden Buddha Statue just a little distance outside the cave complex.

DAY 3 HABARANA
Early in the morning to avoid the crowds, you visit Sigiriya rock fortress whose massive rock overlooks the village with its 200 meters height. Your guide will make you discover the different parts of the site, the cave with the frescoes of Demoiselles, the gardens and ruins of Kasyapa Palace at the top. This site owes its reputation to this megalomaniac king who built his residence in the tenth century. Classified at UNESCO, it is the most visited site in Sri Lanka.
Sigiriya Rock Fortress
Climb the 5th century AD rock fortress, Sigiriya, where the King Kasyapa ruled. Walk through the entrance framed by the paws of a lion that is quite appropriate for its name, ‘ the Lion Rock’. View the beautiful unfading murals that brought Sigiriya its fame. Climb the steep staircase to see the terraced gardens and still-working cisterns. Walk through the tunnels leading to the palace as you get a feel for times long past.
Local Village Experience in Sigiriya
Get a chance to go on an oxen cart ride, and experience the world from the view of a village farmer. Have a relaxing catamaran safari through a calm lake. Walk through the golden fields ripe with their harvest of paddy. Watch an enjoyable traditional cooking demonstration that teaches you the basics of Sri Lankan cuisine. Evening Jeep Safari of Minneriya National Park
Minneriya National Park is located between Habarana and Polonnaruwa. Covered an area of 8890 hectares park is an ideal place for elephant and leopard watching. The vegetation of this park is mixed evergreen and scrub areas. The important feature of this park is that 3rd century built Minneriya Tank is located in the park. During the dry season Minneriya tank becomes the ideal place to observe its natural wild life. Minneriya National Park is home to 24 species of mammals,160 species of birds , 75 species of butterflies, 9 species of amphibians, 26 species of fish and 25 species of reptiles.

DAY 4 HABARANA>Trincomalee

After Breakfast at the hotel Go from the middle of the country up the coast towards Trincomalee, city located on the North-East coast of the country. Before settling down at your hotel, visit the Hindu Kovil Koneswaram temple, located inside Fort Frederik and on the rocky point “Swami Rock” overlooking the ocean.
Visit this ancient temple praised by famous Indian poet-saints and mentioned by several famous personas around the world. See the beautiful murals describing the history of the temple. Worship at the little cave shrine that is has its start in 1580 BC, as compared to the actual temple which was developed in 400 BC. Marvel at the giant statue of King Ravana who, according to legend, worshipped this shrine.
Visit the Fort of Trincomalee originally built by the Portuguese in 1624 CE. See the stones that once formed the Koneswaram temple before the Portuguese destroyed it. Listen to the history of Fort Frederick, which was dismantled and rebuilt by the Dutch.

DAY 5 Trincomalee
Early in the morning, we recommend a whale and Dolphin watching excursion off the coast (season from May to October). Then enjoy the rest of the day exploring the seabed in the Pigeon Island Nature Reserve. This beautiful island is bordered by white sand beaches and crystal clear waters. You will see beautiful fish, maybe some turtles and with a little luck you could see a shark! Go back to the shore to bask on the beautiful beach of Nilaveli.

Even without being a surfer, the bohemian atmosphere in Arugambay is pleasant. You can take surf lessons if you are a beginner or rent a board and go on different spots of the coast.

DAY 9 ARUGAMBAY
Day at leisure by the beach
A multitude of activities are available to you in the surroundings of Arugambay. You can take a surf lesson, rent a scooter to explore the coast and its wild beaches, take a safari with Kumana National Park or a walk on the lagoon. You can also just laze at the pool of your hotel or on the beach.
Visit Muhudu Maha Vihara
Muhudu Maha Vihara is a Buddhist temple situated at Pottuvil in Ampara District, Eastern province of Sri Lanka. This temple which is situated near a wide beach, has been built over 2000 years ago by King Kavan Tissa of Ruhuna. Currently the ruins and remains of ancient stupas, Seema Malaka, Avasa Geya and statues can be seen at the site. Important ruins at the temple premises include stone statues of lord Buddha and two statues of old kings or gods.
Visit Potuvil Lagoon Safari
Early in the morning, life in the lagoon slowly wakes up as the fishermen and wildlife emerges for the day. A lot of birds are cruising the sky and perching on the mangroves to look for food. The lagoon is the home for a lot of animals. You will have the opportunity to see big crocodiles bathing in the morning sun, elephants foraging with their young calves and also the rare Monitor Lizard, which are one of the biggest in the world.
Jeep safari in Kumana National Park (optional)
Kumana National Park spreads over an area of 35,664 hectares. In the west, the park is bordered by River Kumubukkan Oya; to the south is south-eastern coast that runs to Panama. A 200 hectares’ mangrove swamp called “Kumana Villu” within the Park is subject to occasional inundation with sea water. It is at this swamp that many water birds nest, during the months of May and June. Scattered in the Kumana National Park are several water pools that are favorite spots of the wildlife: Kudawila wewa, Thummulla wewa and Kotalinda wewa.

DAY 10 ARUGAMBAY>Tissamaharama

This park is famous for its elephants seen in all their playfulness, whole herds of them bathing and playing in the water while feeding their babies. Ella is a small village in the highlands of Sri Lanka which is filled with tea estates, mountains, waterfalls and of course with some good air to breath.
Lots of people make Ella as one of their must visit destination just to witness the breathtaking views it creates. It is a dream place for many trekkers with some of the best hikes the Island provides. This hidden village got vastly popular among the tourists lately.
Views of mist and clouds covering the summits of the mountain range and the morning sun rise in Ella are spectacular scenes to witness and captured.

DAY 12 ELLA>NUWARAELIYA

After breakfast leave Nuwaraeliya and embark on a train journey that takes you on a scenic ride through some of the most beautiful highland countryside areas in Sri Lanka. Upon arrival at the Nanu Oya railway Station, your driver will be there to pick you up and make a stop in Nuwara Eliya,
meaning “city on the plain (table land)” or “city of light”, is a town in the central highlands of Sri Lanka with a picturesque landscape and temperate climate. Nuwara Eliya’s climate lent itself to becoming the prime sanctuary of the British civil servants and planters in Ceylon. Nuwara Eliya, called Little England then, was also a hill country retreat where the British colonialists could immerse in their pastimes such as fox hunting.

Tea Factory to learn how tea is manufactured in Sri Lanka. You can observe the tea pickers, locally known as ‘tea pluckers’ as they move between the lush green rows along the mountains with their large baskets.Thereafter you will be given a guided tour explaining fermentation, rolling, drying, cutting, sieving and the grading of tea. DAY 14 KANDY
After the breakfast visit the vegetable,fruit market, town center, an arts and crafts center and the vibrant bazaar not far from the lake, which is worth seeing for the diversity of products and its atmosphere. Afterward visit to Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens, located just 5 kilometers from the Kandy City.
In the afternoon, we suggest a hike in the vicinity of Kandy, to discover 3 temples. You visit Ambakke temple, a Buddhist temple with Hindu influences dating from the 13th century, decorated with wooden sculptures. Then, at Lankathilake Temple, a 14th century Buddhist temple, famous for its frescoes, rock carvings and beautiful Buddha statues. Then at the temple of Gadaladeniya. At the end of the day, you will be taken to enjoy a show of traditional dances conducted by the youth of Kandy.
